Jan. 13, 2015: Kshama Sawant, Seattle City Council, Position 2: Seattle City Council

by Gary Fast on January 13, 2015

KshamaSawantKshama Sawant is not a career politician. She is an activist who brings a passion for social justice to her work as a public servant. As a member of the Seattle City Council, Kshama pledges to be a voice for workers, youth, the oppressed and the voiceless. She only accepts the average workers’ wage and donates the rest of her six-figure salary to building social justice movements. As we enter the new year, Kshama’s office will build on of the victories in 2014 as they focused on ensuring strong enforcement for Seattle’s new $15/hour minimum wage legislation, fighting to defend and expand affordable housing, and exploring progressive taxation options.
