Diagnosis and Therapy

Specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, group therapy, stress mastery, brain fitness &

neuroplasticity. Since 1972 experience includes forensic psychology; inpatient acute care for voluntary

and involuntary psychiatric patients; internships in schools and rehabilitation center; and out-patient work

with clients dealing with stressors such as chronic illness, people seeking personal growth AND

individuals interested in enhancing their cognitive skills. Also worked for periods of up to two years as a

registered nurse in each of the following areas: Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, General Medicine &

Surgery (with Urology and Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat), and Substance Abuse. Current focus is on

Neuroplasticity and Positive Psychology to Enhance Brain Power.

Forensic Psychology

Since 1983 served, as Court Expert for Harborview Medical Center. Also provided expert testimony for

Western State Hospital in the Pierce County, for Snohomish County and for courts in other states.

Teaching

As Clinical Associate Professor at University of Washington, presented in Grand Rounds for Psychiatry:

Use Positive Psychology to Drive Brain Plasticity in a Positive Direction; also continue to teach clinical

and legal issues of civil commitment. At the 4th World Congress on Positive Psychology; Washington

State Psychology Association and others, taught Neuroplasticity for Brain Health. At Hofstra University

and Towson State University – taught undergraduate level courses in psychology part-time. Have

lectured and conducted workshops and seminars nationally. Was invited guest in a panel of experts for

Second Opinion on PBS TV. Approved by WSNA to grant contact hours in continuing education for

nurses; have done so for University of Washington, Hofstra University and Thomas Jefferson University.

Administration

At Western State Hospital was Program Coordinator of Admissions Ward with approximately 200

admissions per month. Managing member of Ideal Aging, LLC.
