Sept. 30, 2014: John Enger, District Governor, Rotary 5030

John graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967 and then from the University of Washington in 1971, with a degree in Communications/Advertising.  He is a member of the UWAA, a Tyee Club and Big W contributor.  While at the UW he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, worked on both the Daily and Tyee publications and was a sprinter on the Huskies’ Track Team.  He is a retired yellow pages publisher, having spent his entire career producing both print and online directories.  Before selling his businesses, he belonged to numerous Chambers of Commerce and other business groups.  He serves on the South Seattle College Community Advisory Board.  A Rotary Academy graduate, he joined Rotary in 1975 and served as the RC West Seattle president in 2006-07.  He has served on the District Membership Team, Club Extension committee, 3 years Assistant Governor, Visioning Team, and was the District Conference Chair in 2012.  He has traveled to Kenya with a team of WS Rotarians, including his daughter Tori and has been on 2 NIDs in Ethiopia, one with his wife Karin.  He and Karin live at Alki and have two grown children and two fantastic grand kids, plus another one on the way in 2014.  An avid sports fan, John owes his rebirth in Rotary to four past presidents from his club:  Ann, Shirley, Marti and Shelley.
