Jon Scholes has served as CEO since November, 2014.  He joined the DSA staff in 2008 as policy director, and was subsequently promoted to vice president of advocacy and economic development.  He has led the association’s policy and advocacy efforts, public space management strategies, market research and analysis, retail recruitment and other economic development initiatives. In addition, Scholes was recently appointed by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to serve on both the City of Seattle’s Housing Affordability Task Force and the Emergency Task Force on Unsheltered

Previous to his DSA tenure, Scholes was director of research and a senior communications aide for Gov. Chris Gregoire’s 2008 re-election campaign. He also worked as deputy campaign manager for the 2007 roads and transit regional transportation measure, and prior to that served for more than five years as chief of staff to King County Councilmember Julia Patterson.

Scholes, a Tacoma native, received a political science degree from the University of Washington, is a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow, and resides with his wife and two young children in Downtown Seattle.
