Julie is a retired attorney who practiced in California for 35 years, specializing in business litigation. She
is past president of the Orange County Bar Association and recipient of the Orange County Bar’s Franklin
G. West Award for lifetime achievement and the State Bar of California’s President’s Pro Bono Award,
as well as the Public Law Center’s Attorney of the Year Award for her pro bono legal work in the
community. In 2021, she was named Rotarian of the Year by the Lake Chelan Rotary Club for her work
birthing and founding 911 Glass Rescue, a community service project of the Club. Julie is now a full-time
volunteer.
Julie will discuss the formation of 911 Glass Rescue, the fundraising required to purchase “Paulie the
Pulverizer” (named after Paul Harris), current operations after two years and six months of converting
post-consumer glass into glass sand and aggregate, and the outlook for the future of the operation.
